Blue Essentials Access^SM Benefit Plan

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) introduced a new benefit plan option, Blue Essentials Access, that went into effect on January 1, 2017. This is a reminder to providers that Blue Essentials Access is an “open access” plan that does not require BCBSTX members to select a primary care provider (PCP) or obtain a referral for specialist services when the member utilizes in-network Blue Essentials providers. All other HMO plan benefits remain the same.
